When race day rolls around, parking is one of the first things to think about. Martinsville Speedway offers a mix of free public lots and reserved paid options, each with its own advantages depending on how close you want to be to the gates and how quickly you’d like to leave after the checkered flag.
For fans looking to save money, several free lots are available around the track. To the north, along Clover Road near turns 3 and 4, you’ll find large free areas that also connect directly to the campgrounds. These are popular with fans who don’t mind a longer walk to the main gates. On the west side, just off Speedway Boulevard, there’s another free lot that provides fairly quick access back to US-220, though traffic tends to be heavy after the race since many fans use the same road. If you’re arriving from the south, the free lot off George Martin Highway is another good option, though it requires a bit of an uphill walk to reach the grandstands.
Those who prefer to be closer to the action can secure paid or reserved parking. Premier Parking, located right in the center of the property near the display area, puts you only a short walk from the frontstretch gates and Fan Zone, but it also comes with the highest price and the slowest exits. Just north of the track are the Family and VIP/Hospitality lots, which are ideal if you’re headed for hospitality areas or family seating, though access is limited to fans with the right passes. Suite and club guests have their own designated areas as well, including Club 47, Club Panorama, and Reserved Suite/TV Compound lots, all positioned within easy walking distance of premium entrances.
Accessibility is also taken into account, with an ADA lot located by Turn 2 Hospitality. This area provides ramp access and cart support for guests with mobility needs, though you’ll need the proper permit, and spaces are limited. Bus parking is positioned near Clover Road, while driver and NASCAR official lots are restricted to credentialed users only.
The bottom line is simple: free parking will save you money but often means a longer walk and more time sitting in traffic, while reserved lots cost extra but put you much closer to the speedway. Arriving early helps no matter where you’re parked, and following the directions of police and parking attendants will make your entry and exit as smooth as possible.
On Friday and Saturday, the parking lots usually open at 11:00 AM, while on Sunday – race day – they open early at 7:00 AM.
